RYLA is a scholarship which trains our young people for leadership roles.
It is a week-long residential camp for ages 18 to 30.
How Rotary helped
The Rotary Club of Manly's Youth Committee work with local business to find suitable participants, usually put forward by their employers.
We use some of the funds we generate to sponsor these future leaders to attend the week long camp.
The results have been outstanding and these young people have praised the program and the life-changing effect on their lives.
“Say goodbye to self-doubt when it comes to leadership!
The RYLA experience was one that I only wish I embarked on sooner.
Surrounded by supportive, like minded individuals we were able to develop, learn and embody leadership values.
The skills and qualities I learnt during RYLA will stay with me throughout my entire career."
Linsey Payne, 2021 RYLA Participant Sponsored by the Rotary Club of Manly
“"The experiential, hands-on nature of RYLA provided us with countless opportunities to develop invaluable leadership qualities, such as authenticity, vulnerability, and the ability to lead by one’s principles and values.""
Alex McHugh, 2021 RYLA Participant Sponsored by the Rotary Club of Manly
More youth projects
Rotary has a number of scholarships, including some to guide Year 10 students in realising their full potential, MUNA - a United Nations mock assembly, and a safe driving activity. There are many more.
In addition, we also encourage budding scientists by sending them to intense science workshops at local universities.
